Numerous activities such as cycling, golfing, swimming as well as skydiving, flying, horse riding and hot air ballooning mean that there is something to satisfy all leisure interests. With its civil airfield and horse riding track, golfing green in Weißkirchen, minigolf and jogging tracks along the Traun: Wels has a wealth of sporting and leisure activities on offer.
A visit to the Wels zoo with its more than 650 animals, including Austria's largest number of primate species, is free of charge all year round. The Schmiding zoo close to Wels and agrarium family paradise are also well worth a visit!

Whereas the Romans once headed to the thermal spas, today families flock to Welldorado (open-air and indoor baths) and the  fitness clubs. You can even smell the sea air in Wels: if you visit the Gradierwerk salt water springs in the Wels 'Volksgarten' gardens, a free inhalation therapy session awaits you.
