Dragoon museum

4600 Wels, Dragonerstraße 44

In the Summer of 1919, former members of the dragoon regiment no. 4 met and founded the association of the former 4th dragoon in order to maintain the camaraderie and tradition of the regiment.
These initial founders who strived to maintain their heritage tried to set up a regiment museum at the time.
In 1956 they seized the spirit of the moment and set up a museum, with the support of the city of Wels and later mayor Dr. Aubert Salzmann. This piece of history subsequently disappeared, for various reasons.
Thanks to a happy coincidence, the association was granted support from the state of Upper Austria, the city of Wels and the city marketing division in 1998 to return to the dragoon barracks after 80 years and transform it into a museum about the history of the regiment and the association of the 4th dragoon and the Ulanen regiments.
