Puppenträume- und Bärenmuseum (Museum of dall dreams and bears)

4600 Wels, Heiderosenstraße 58

The 'Puppenträume- und Bärenmuseum' was opened in 1996. It is housed in a 100 year old estate on the north edge of the city. The exhibition rooms cover a total of 300 m² of the estate. There is also a museum shop containing dolls, bears, doll's houses, furniture, doll's prams and much more. Monika Parzer has loved dolls since her childhood. Her collection consists of modern dolls. She uses children as the models for many of the dolls in her museum: children on the street, at kindergarten, in school and in the playground. She has copied their gestures, expressions and clothing perfectly. Art drawn directly from real life.
In addition to the more than 600 dolls, a Steiff bear collection has also developed over the years containing more than 400 bears. At first glance, the variety of dolls and bears on show is not so obvious. It takes time to realise the real charm of the creations. The main focal point of the museum is the unique nature of the dolls and bears in Austria as well as the museum's annual special exhibition.
