Unique traffic volume in Europe

The Wels train terminal is unique in Europe in terms of its through-traffic: each day approximately 950 trucks and 1,050 goods wagons pass through the station!
The 'rolling highway' has a large part to play in this. With a comprehensive and forward-thinking range of services on offer, more than 214,000 trucks each year are dispatched to Hungary, Poland, Belarus, Croatia, etc. And this trend is on the increase!

  • Wels - Szeged: 4 Train pairs - daily (per block train 22 low floor wagons)
  • Wels - Sopron: 5 Train pairs - daily (per block train 22 low floor wagons)
  • Wels - Glogovat: 1 Train pair 6x/week (22 low floor wagons); 1 Train pair 3x/week (22 low floor wagons)
  • Wels - Ljubljana- 1 Train pair - 1x/week - 17 low floor wagons
  • Wels - Maribor: 4 Train pairs - (17 low floor wagons)
  • Wels - Villach: 6 Train pairs - daily (19 low floor wagons)


 In terms of 'unaccompanied traffic', the following block train connections run between

  • Wels - Neuss 6x/week
  • Wels - Hamburg/Bremerhaven 3x/week
  • Wels - Hanover 3x/week
  • Wels - Wanne 4x/week
  • Wels - Duisburg harbour 5x/week
  • Wels - Sopron 4x/week

Individual wagon shipments are also sent between Wels and all national and international terminals.
